Unreasonable fears.

Last night at bedtime, Jaysen insisted that he wanted to sleep in his jeans.
After much goading, he finally told me why.

"Don't take my pants off because ladybugs will crawl in my butt!"

Ladybugs.
Seriously? Ladybugs???

Erp?

Had he found a ladybug in his bed? If not, what a wild imagination :)

Nope. There have been no indoor ladybug sightings. He is however, deathly afraid of bees, and now flies, thanks to his "research paper" on flies. "...They're gonna poop on my fooooood!"

And apparently now, ladybugs.

OMG.

Don't bring that boy to Australia. The creepy crawlies here are awesome. My middle boys used to be worried about funnel web spiders (the are deadly) until I explained to him they can't climb very well, and our house is off the ground a bit. Thankfully he didn't realise the wheelchair ramp is not just for his sister, the spiders could use it too... Don't ever give Jayson a school project on Australia, please. You'l lhave to go and buy one of those suits people use who work with bees for him to sleep in.

Yep, that is definitely something to avoid.

Smart kid.

We had a ladybug infestation a few years ago. Apparently some had decided to winter in our drop ceiling and by spring they had multiplied. We were vacuuming them out of our keyboards and throwing them outside by the handful!

But...but...Heike, you just said we should move to Australia because you all are still in school! Great. Now I have to unpack all these bags....

Hoping you can convince him that all pants-type clothing are equally protective. Hoping this fear can be quelled in some more permanent way. Hoping you are documenting new behaviors as they come. I could live with sleeping in jeans, if it doesn't morph into something else more unreasonable. Barbara

Lol! Funny, but a little bit sad at the same time because fear can be so limiting...
